Day 3 - Lost in Dallas

Day 3 - Lost in Dallas

Location: Garland - Dallas - Sulphur Springs - Texarkana - Arkadelphia

Entering Dallas

By lost in Dallas, I mean getting lost in the best of ways. After spending a great night at our hotel, Microtel Inn, that I would suggest to anyone staying in the area, we headed off into Dallas. We had a great lunch with our piano professor Dr. Lim at Chipotles (totally not better than Moe's). Then we headed out into downtown Dallas. We ended up at the Sixth Floor Museum, the building that Oswald shot Kenned out of, and we were going to take the tour, but EVERYONE in Dallas was already there. So, we just stopped in the gift shop and bought a few tourist items. We ambled around West End and watched all the tourists taking lots of pictures. Finally, we found the Dallas Aquarium and got in before the line was too long. The aquarium was amazing! It was also completely crowded and extremely loud! We saw a sloth, monkeys with mustaches, polka-dotted sting-rays, a jaguar, and stood under sharks. All in all, it's well worth the completely over-priced admission.

We continued to meander around the West End, watching all the St. Patrick's Day party goers with their green accouterments walking around the streets, riding four leaf clover covered carriages, and watching live bands at bars. We ended up at the Hard Rock Cafe where I bought an awesome T-shirt. Then we headed out on the road and managed to only get turned around twice. Thanks i-phone maps!
Munchkin Cat
Sulphur Springs was our next stop, and we met up with Sarah's parents. We went and visited a half munchkin cat. Imagine an adorable kitten with tiny front legs and normal back legs with the length of a ferret. Better yet, look at this picture! After spending some time playing with a kitten and visiting family friends, we headed to a new frozen yogurt shop called Sweet Frog. It had all kinds of frozen yogurt (dutch chocolate, lemon, cappacuino, strawberry cheesecake) and every topping imaginable all for 39 cents an ounce. It was delicious; thank you Sarah's mother!
I must say, the most interesting part of Sulphur Springs could be the fact that they have giant cows outside of their high-school. However, it could also be the really bizarre one way glass bathrooms they have right in the middle of the down-town square. I guess that's useful...if not a major tourist attraction.
Finally, we headed out on the road to Arkadelphia. After a quick stop in Texarkana in search for a red bikini and to see Sarah's boyfriend, we made it back. We also saw at least 15 deer on  the road! For dinner we demolished a large Dominoes pizza. Sarah packed, and then we crashed. Off to Harrison, Arkansas tomorrow!
