Location: Arkadelphia - Sulphur Springs - Commerce - Garland

The Two Travelers |
Two girls, one car, and 252.48 miles of road. Our journey began at 6:00 am with Desmond, sadly, saying he was sick, so we were now on our own traveling to and in Garland. We loaded the car and headed to Texas with the great classics playing: Holst, Van Williams, Mackey...Shakira. We arrived at Sulphur Springs, and I tried my first honey chicken biscuit from Whataburger. It was fantastic! Then we were back on the road to Commerce.
Texas A&M at Commerce was hosting a Tau Beta Sigma/Kappa Kappa Psi workshop. It was wonderful, and we spent a day learning about serving bands. We also played a new game called "Tanks" which involves blindfolds, a ring of chairs, and ammunition in the form of pillow pets and soccer balls. Sarah and I both excelled at directing blindfolded people, "tanks", in throwing items at other blind-folded people as "commanders". The goal of the game being for one "tank" to get all the other "tanks" out by hitting them. I have a feeling this will become a new game in our chapter. During the workshop, the trombone choir presented a great impromptu performance, and after singing, chanting, and saying our goodbyes, we headed back on the road.

We made our way to Garland, and I managed to navigate us to our hotel. The room is awesome! We could totally fit three other people into this room as it has a fold out sofa and window seat/bed. After relaxing, we decided on shopping at the Firewheel Mall, which was really pretty! Of course, to get here, we had an adventure through a little Mexico, streets like "Rio Grande" and every taco stand in existence. Then we ended up in little Italy with pizza and pasta places, and finally in mini London at "Buckingham Palace Road". If you ever get a chance to eat at the Nestle Tollhouse Factory, you should definitely eat a peanut butter cookie cup. It's all the awesome flavor of a Reese's surrounded by a chocolate chip cookie. For dinner, we had In-N-Out Burger, another first for me. It was great, and yes, I realize this is quickly turning into a blog about food.

After dinner, we discovered that we, as females, are completely directionally challenged. While trying to get back to the hotel, we drove around the same corner of a parking lot 6 times trying to figure out which was to turn on the road. Thanks, iPhone maps. Finally, we found our way back to the hotel, blasting Avril Lavigne and making fun of other people driving. Now, we're watching Golden Girls and about to crash. Tomorrow, the Dallas aquarium!
